Researchers at the University of Glasgow are responsible for some of the world’s leading scholarship on the monastery on the island of Iona, Argyll and Bute. Much of this work flows from the fruitful collaborative working environment between Archaeology, Celtic & Gaelic, and History at Glasgow, and now fostered through the Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies.
The Glasgow Iona Research Group began as an informal community of interest and has grown into a body actively commissioning new research projects. As these projects develop, we will need to expand and invite collaboration with researchers and leaders outside our own institution. This page has been established to showcase the result of our work so far, and form a basis for capturing and disseminating new work, but also create a digital hub for Iona research more widely.
